Knittypants - September 18, 2008 - 10:05 am

I just ready your missing post on my google reader. I’m sorry you lost it. I love your tie dyeing. I,ve been trying to convince my daughter we should tie dye together, but she thinks I’m weird (she’s 11) so maybe I’ll see if I can convince my 6yo instead.

pascaline Legros - September 20, 2008 - 5:58 am

i like your dyeing… what brand do you use ? anyway well done for your “first” try!!

the Platts in Blueberry Land

First of THANK YOU to all of you for the amazing comments and emails. You don’t know how much each and everyone one of them mean to me (and John, he’s been reading them too and is blown away how wicked awesome my readers are!) I wish each of you the best of luck! I’m […]

Wow, look at all those blueberries! That would be heaven for my kids. Makes me laugh seeing your pictures and to look at our one pathetic little blueberry plant.
We had a sushi place open here too, but I really don’t like sushi. Good for you though, make sure to go and enjoy it!
Good luck with the teething, it’s hard, I know.

Christine

pascaline Legros - September 15, 2008 - 7:44 am

How funny, today we went to a farm close to paris… to get fresh air for sure but to pick some raspberries… 4kg of raspberries… I wish we could share … I love blueberries too.. certainly my favorite fruit to top my muesli..
I totally understand for the sushi … in england, there are so many places here back in france… much less… so we learned how to make them… may be you should… give a little kiss to your poor little teething baby… I have been there twice… and have a nice week… mrs fabulous dolls maker!

admin - September 15, 2008 - 8:55 am

Christine- I didn’t know blue berry bushes looked like that either, we have one in the back that the DEER keep on munching on so it never gets a chance to grow. The sushi is a treat once in a while. I grew up in Vancouver where there is a very large Asian population and sushi places are more common then MacDonalds, it’s a real comfort food.
Hello Pascaline, the raspberries have passed here, I’m sad that I didn’t get to pick them this year- they are my favorite berry. I’ve tried making sushi, I have the mat, the nori everything- but it just isn’t as good. I can never get the rice just right, I always end up putting too much or not enough vinegar in it. I can make the Korean style sushi though. Hmmm, you’ve inspired me to try again. I’m sure there is a how-to video on You Tube.
Have a great day!

Naomi - September 15, 2008 - 11:13 am

Oh my! I want to go to Blueberry Land!!!

Christine - September 16, 2008 - 4:12 am

Sorry, I just laughed out loud again about the deer. I still empathize though. Darned animals! 🙂

Christine

Soheray - September 17, 2008 - 7:28 pm

This is the first time I’ve seen your site, I found you thru Mothering Magazine. I was so thrilled to read that you have a teething Jasper! I do too! He’s 6.5 months.

Your dolls are sweet….I especially love the blanket ones…

bethany - September 18, 2008 - 11:03 am

Your photo of the blueberries makes me want to draw and paint!!! What a wonderful day! I like the tie-die job on your next post too! And I’m with you on the sushi… we just had a restaurant open which I haven’t been to yet (are we in the same place???). I love country living too but I miss all the great restaurants!

Love, love, love your work, as you know … we are fortunate to own 2 Bamboletta dolls .. and would love to own more (who wouldn’t?!?) … but would have to say that if we were lucky enough to win this dear girl, she’d go to my daughter’s best friend, Lulu, b/c she just moved far away from the only home/friends she’s ever known and is about to gain a baby brother, and could use some Bamboletta love 🙂

I can only say that I wish my blog got the great feedback yours does – I check in most days to see what’s new in the Bamboletta household. I would love to give this little gal a home, my son LOVES dolls while my daughter would prefer to play cars. Funny how that works!

The K.K. quote is beautiful 😉

Marta - September 11, 2008 - 10:16 am

I wanted to leave you a comment the other day when you totally made my day by telling the world that you like to watch ANTM! Thank you so much for making me feel better about my deep, dark, not very wholesome or Waldorf-y secret! Well, it is almost time to present Naomi with her birthday doll, I can hardly wait! So I don’t want to be greedy, but if we won then I could have a doll to play with too! Or the most amazing birthday gift for one of Naomi’s friends. Thanks for taking the time to share part of your life, it is reassuring and inspiring.

pascaline Legros - September 11, 2008 - 10:30 am

I and the kids would love to welcome her to your French Home near Paris… what a great and lovely doll… well done …for sure with a doll like her I would have to knit some jumpers for the autumn coming… so finger cross one s more… and if not , i hope she finds a great little family to play with..
bye

Your dolls are beyond fabulous! I have a thing for hair… I love to draw it… and the hair on your dolls is fantastic! My daughter was not as interested in dolls when she was little (to my dismay!). She saw your dolls and fell in love… she is 11 yrs. old and says if she had had one of yours, she would have loved it! There is something more real and inviting about them. I wish you much success… i think maybe that is already happening!! 😉

I saw your stand at the trout lake farmers market a few years ago. I was absolutely in love with your beautiful dolls. Please correct me if i am wrong but did you have a line of dolls that had certain stones in there bellies? I have a friend that owns a metaphysical store in Courtney BC and I was telling her about your dolls and how i haven’t seen them since. I just saw them today in the window of the wool shop on Main street here in Vancouver with an email address. Must be my lucky day!! So here I am, fingers crossed in hopes that I may win one of your pretty dolls!
Please do let me know about the stones in the bellies. If so I would love to get your information and pass it on to my friend for her store.
Thanks for your time:)

I love studio/ workroom shots- as I’m sure most of you know by now.  This quote is by Kathe Krause, amazing dollmaker from the 1900’s out of Germany. Good morning! If you ever do find that website, could you please let me know? I can’t find it either, and I love Käthe Kruse.

I’d kill for some tea and chocolate right now. Maybe I should just go get it and pamper myself. It’s one of those days…

P.S. Button is working again! Yay!

ramona - September 10, 2008 - 3:28 am

Studio Shots are the best. I love to lurk into other people’s workspace. Very inspiring. And what a great idea to have this quote written on the wall.
I guess I am one of your new readers. Just added your blog a few days ago.

Might it be this website?

i am a new lover of your dolls and blog, though i’m not yet lucky enough to own a doll. i appreciate the doll sewing tips as your dolls have inspired me to try to make some for my boys. i don’t think i’ve ever been inspired to buy or make a waldorf doll until i saw yours. i think it was the hair. and the way you shape and sew the faces. and the simple, stylish clothes. clothes you just want to touch and wear yourself! not all ruffly with stiff lace, etc. i’ve come out of lurk mode to tell you this-your work is so inspiring! i read all your archives and everything. i really wish i could see them all in person.

Hello Naomi, I’ll email you later too 🙂
Hi Andrea, if you need any help, let me know! I love helping people make their own dolls. Thanks for the comment about the non lace, lol, you don’t know how much that made my day!

Adrianne - September 10, 2008 - 10:25 pm

Hi Christina,

I have bookmarked your blog and I check in often! I just can’t help myself. I love seeing what’s new in the land of Bamboletta. I am in awe of the uniqueness of each of your dolls while still maintaining your “Bamboletta look”. When I see pictures of your dolls, I know they are yours without looking. I have seen other waldorf style dolls but there is something that is special about yours. Love them ALL!! 🙂

I found a small peek inside Kathe Kruse… wanna see?

box full of lovliness

My friend Tressa, the very talented lady behind Dress Me Up surprised me today by sending me a de-stash box of fabrics. A huge thank you to dear Tressa!  All sorts of lovely things in there, but I especially like these vintage napkins- I can’t […]

The button doesn’t work in Firefox either, so I’ve resorting to *gasp* IE lately. A wholly new experience. 😉

O, but those berries with whipped cream look SO yummy!! You just can’t do that to a girl first time in the morning!! 🙂 Hee hee, I can just see you now, all dressed up in black, wearing those Ninja Mutant Turtle (or was that Mutant Ninja Turtle? Too loooong ago) headbands (you know, with the slits in ’em), screeching tyres, running out to grab berries, dashing back in… LOL.

*Drool*… New fabrics!! I myself just received a little box of De Witte Engel goodies… Now off to go rip it open!

Have a nice day!

Christine - September 9, 2008 - 4:03 am

I’m one of those nerds who still uses IE all the time. 🙂
I really love the prints on the fabric!! I always have bad luck with vintage fabrics, I only find the synthetic kind and I don’t want to use that.
That dessert looks lovely! About the cream; you mean you used the fatty top layer of the milk? Did you put sugar in it?

Berry picking….I miss going out in the garden to pick our own raspberries, stawberries and Saskatoon berries. We always had tons… *sigh*

I try to use the fabric I have and stay away from the fabric store for now. I still have containers full of fabric scraps…

Leanna - September 9, 2008 - 8:55 am

Funny, I thought of you guys jumping out of your car ninja style with face masks too! HI Ya! haha, I am really in need of some fresh berry goodness.

I just hit an amazing fabric sample sale at a local quilting store and managed to get my hands on 118 fat quarter sized pieces. It was one of the craziest things I have ever seen, crazed women riping through piles of samples looking for treasures! I was the only one there with a baby attached to me!

I just wanted to say thanks for mentioning the Eckhart TOlle book on tape thing. I wanted to read it, but thought when? and then ran out and grabbed my own copy on CD too! Thanks!

Monica - September 9, 2008 - 9:11 am

Oh wow!! What a mail day!! Those fabrics are divine…oh, how I love vintage fabrics. My grandma said I can raid her stash…I can’t wait to get home to do so. 🙂
So…Ninja is the way to do it, huh? We’re going berry picking sometime this week. It will be Emma’s first time. lol…I imagine she’ll be purple by the end! I can’t wait to fill my cupboards with fresh jam though. Hate to buy the store stuff. Your bowl of berries and cream looks divine…I’m drooling.
Oh, and the button doesn’t work on firefox, but I’ve been “tabbing” over to it and pressing “enter” on my keyboard. 😉

admin - September 9, 2008 - 12:52 pm

We got caught literally red handed last week picking berries, so now we are all ninja abou t it. We didn’t realize that bushes on the side of the road still might belong to someone, anyhow, this older woman yelled at us from inside her home to stop picking her berries. We totally apologised and then offered her the berries we picked. She replied “I don’t wan’t the berries your hands have touched”. Ouch.
Yes, the cream is the yummy fatty bit from the top of the milk we get from a farm close by, mmmm- yes sugar goes in it 🙂

Jennifer - September 9, 2008 - 4:04 pm

Wow! What I wouldn’t do for fresh strawberries in September! Love those vintage hankies!
