I’ve been promising this tutorial for months now! I was going to have this as a section on my website which would mean that I’d have to ‘code’ it. Ugh. I have notes on how to do this but I’m really not into figuring it out right now. If you’ve been following me on Facebook, […]

While visiting my parents last weekend I was absolutely floored to receive this amazing gift from my aunt (zia in Italian) Maria. Maria is, as you can see, an incredible cross stitch-er and took an incredible amount of time to complete this. Look at that tree and grass – it’s all stitched on! My 2 […]
WOW! Your aunt is a crazy good cross stitcher, thats incredible! A friend once told me you never know how you effect other peoples lifes, Even if its just a moment…something to think about.
That cross stitch is amazing- and I really love how you’re able to trace parts of yourself to the influences of close family… I really enjoyed reading this blog post π
What a lovely keepsake – I am in awe of your super creative family. Thanks for sharing… =)
I remember being so jealous when you went for the craft sleepovers at Zia Maria’s house. When I was finally old enough to join in, I only did so once and it just was not for me, I wasn’t very good at it and didn’t share that passion that all the other ladies did. It reminds me of when you’ve tried to get me to help you with the dolls, it looks so simple for you but it takes me eons to do something that you can do in a few minutes and in the end you just have to redo it. Oh well, at least one of us can do math in our head : )
Oh my gosh, that is incredible!
That is GORGEOUS!
And I really love the little fairy window on the tree just behind it. That makes me smile. π
what a treasure – not only the cross stitch but also your knowledge of how you became you and from whence you came…
That is so wonderful! What a very talented Aunt you have! I can’t imagine how long that took to make!!!
the cross stitch is beautiful!
What a wonderful gift, it’s lovely!
That is gorgeous!! She did a beautiful job. Lucky you!
I loved hearing about your aunts and how much they influenced your life. It’s these little tidbits that make me feel like I know you (even though I don’t…!)
I hope that doesn’t sound too stalker-y!
That cross stitch of your logo is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G – really it is. Someone who obviously loves you a lot spent a lot of time on it, that’s clear!
-Sarah :o)
P.S. – Christina, I’m *DYING* to know – who is the model for the new Heather Ross prints? I never saw her listed. She has curly hair but it’s kind of lighter brown and has different shades in her hair?! She’s amazingly beautiful! Is she GOING to be listed or is she one of yours that you keep? SO curious, I am! :o)
Sounds like a wonderful childhood and some really cool aunts! Thanks for sharing! Also LOVE the cross stitch – it makes me want to take it up again!
I’m going to have to move my ‘Thursday Finds’ to another day. Thursday nights are a busy night over here, this is the night John and I usually prep the weeks dolls. Stuffing, cutting and tying – lol, all night long. Luckily for us we are in the Alps segment of the Tour de France. […]
I actually got ‘Buddhism for Mothers of Young Children’ for my birthday in May, and it’s been sitting on my shelf. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it. I have such a long book queue myself, but maybe I’ll move it up. I could use some mindfulness, quite honestly.
The funny thing is that link is for the book “Ignore Everybody: and 39 other keys to Creativity”. . . .which is a little different than being present for your kids π . . . .but i found the book you mentioned and might have to pick it up. Can’t wait to see this week’s dolls a little closer! Have a wonderful weekend!
thanks for that Cheryl! I was going to talk about that book, but wasn’t impressed with it so I didn’t think it was worth mentioning π
hi Amber – it’s a great book – especially if you are feeling overwhelmed as I tend to. a lot.
Holy moly…ya know…I am at my LYS knit group when you stock usually…darn good thing.
How many dolls you you keep at home with you and your boys? If I could Christina, I’d have more dolls than letters in the alphabet. Each week at least one talks to me.
I too am sucked into Twilight. The HS they used in the movie filming is just down the road from me….I’ve thought of adding pics of me there to my blog. π Make some mommas jealous! lol
Hi Christina – so lovely to meet you today – love your website and love that you too have a Janome and that you love to read (I am also a librarian and to ‘talk’ books is one of my joys!)OGD makes story pillows which seem to be a big hit – so we are kind of on the same page. I think we should have tea one day and chat about the possibilities – love your energy. After the baby fair!!! Love Soule too…….my grandies love books and my favourite book is Miss Rumphius or as my kids called it the Lupin Lady……
Hope to talke to you soon.

This is a little tutorial on how to put your dolls hair into antenna buns – or Bjork buns for us mid 90’s gals. It’s basically the same way you would do the bigger buns – that tutorial will be coming up next. I took some pics of doing those buns for a tutorial, but […]
Love the tutorial – thank you! Can’t wait to see the new clothes… =) FYI – we have been visiting my family in Vegas since the beginning of July. Arlo, Jewels (aka Star), and Olivia all made the journey. We have taken lots of pictures of the kids and their babes in the desert. I will do my best to send them your way once we return. =)
you have pretty hands π
Oh Lovely!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! I love your fairies!!!!!
Hugs,
RocΓo
Oh, gorgeous hairdo! I’m going to try this with our little Molly π
Oh, how sweet.
I love the hair, I tried to fashion Violets hair for her trip to grandmas and did not do that good of job. Thanks for showing me the how. No wonder my hair looks as it does. I can’t wait to see clothes…A girl always needs more clothes.
Thanks for the hair tutorial. We look forward to learning how to do all the hairstyles you do!! I only wish it was as easy as you make it sound!!! The pictures are definitely a BIG help.
Fridays are fast becomming our favourite days! We eagerly wait to see the new dolls and clothing up for sale. I think I have 2 growing fashionistas who drool over all the clothing they would like for Molly and Ginger.
Well done Christina. It paid teaching you how to work with hair.
You know I’m going to go try this…right now…right? π
I’m glad you call them Bjork buns too – I used to wear my hair like that all the time in university. Along with a long nylon rave skirt and platform sketchers, I was the coolest girl in engineering school. I should have known then I didn’t fit π

I love that you called them Bjork buns!
Tiffany Stone is our winner of little man Leif!! Congrats to you Tiffany! What a sweet little guy! My younger son would love to share some summer (and fall and winter and spring) adventures with Leif! Seeing as I’m a firm believer in ‘ giving back to move ahead’ I’ll have another giveaway up by […]
Yeah Tiffany! Give the guy a hug from me Leif is a cutie!
Instead of ‘Out of Stock’, you can say “More friends coming to play soon!”
Do you still want me to do any sewing for you?
I haven’t been able to log in on Facebook for 2 weeks now. It just sits there looking like it’s loading, but never logs me in.
Oh, wow!! I missed your stocking…probably a good thing…I’d have been a glutton and had Lily and Emma on the way if I could swing the pp. lol!! Lily’s hair is AMAZING!
I love Wendi’s suggestion of “more friends…” that is so sweet! I can not wait for you to visit SW WA for some coffee. Our four would be fast friends I’m sure. {hug} Oh, and Edward or Jacob? π I’m so torn. lol
And…Congratulations Tiffany!!
Of course you sold all those! They were fabulous! Your fairies were super sweet! π
Woot! Lucky Tiffany!
Ever thought if stocking some multicoloured extensions to dress up the dolls hair with?
I’ve got to tell you, my two youngest love their dolls and put on little plays and such with them. They’re such great toys.
Love the more friends coming soon, soo cute of course.
hello everyone π i changed the ‘out of stock’ to ‘this doll has found a new home. new playmates coming soon!’ what do you think?
I think it’s perfect. My mother may be interested in doing clothes and knitting sweaters. She’s in Victoria and she’s been telling me she wants a new project. I will speak with her. She is an exceptional seamstress and used to do the costumes for VOS and for the theatre company at Parklands Highschool.
What a great tagline for the ‘out of stock’ replacement!
Can I tell you how much I love that curly blong hair? Gorgeous!
I LOVE LOVE your dolls. I was introduced to them by Petra!
She is so cute!!! My daughter and 6yo son both enjoy playing with Sarah our Bamboletta doll. It would be great to have another little play friend so they could each have one intote. Happy birthday to you and many blessings!
Paula
Can’t wait to see our fairie! Little Miss Ivy made her debut two weeks ago and she’s so tiny she can wear Calliope’s kimonos… which Charlotte is delighted by. She also makes sure Ivy always has her blanket doll. I will send photos of both girls with their dolls soon.
Gonna try it on Polly tonight!
Awesome pics! You sure make it look easy… can’t wait for my doll to get here and I can try it out π
Oh, thank you so much for the tutorial. Just in time because I see that Merry’s dolly shipped!!! I’m so excited to see her:))
Love the buns, We really like styling the hair. And of course we cannot wait for the underwear pattern…everyday might not be enough maybe every hour or so.
Love your dolls and would like to be able to give this to my Grandaughter, for Christmas it would be a very special gift. (Just too Cute)
Thank you for this tutorial. I have made what l call a grandma doll with glasses and wanted to give her buns on each side. Now l can with help from you. Thanks so much. Joy
