Doll Hat

I was reminded by a lovely customer of an idea that I had quite some time ago – I love dealing with customers, I get so much inspiration from you ladies! Anyhow, I pride myself on my hair – how it’s attached and just how much there is on the dolls head. Most of the […]

you’re such a sweetheart, this is darling! ruby’s bamboletta (that’s what she calls her bamboletta baby) wears one of my knotty caps and a leaf bib. it wasn’t supposed to happen that way, but when the girl wants what she wants for bamboletta, well, that’s what happens.

I’m going to make one for Nirah so cute!

CanCan (Mom Most Traveled) - March 20, 2009 - 1:01 am

I tried to make one of these for an actual baby, like 8 years go. I followed a pattern from Martha Stewart Baby (remember? It was a short lived spin off magazine) and it looked like crap. I’m still embarrassed when I think about how I gave it to someone. It was lopsided!
I have no skillz.

Looks great! And a wonderful idea for bigger kids too.

Gracon wear’s one of Bear’s newborn caps every night…it’s our ritual. Nurse Bear, cap Gracon, nighty-night. 😉

bethany - March 21, 2009 - 2:20 pm

Your dolls do have the best hair I’ve ever seen! And the hat is the cutest doll hat I’ve ever seen!!! I just imagined lots of cute illustrations of kids curled up with their dolls!

cheryl - March 22, 2009 - 5:11 am

Love the hat and now I know what I will be doing on mon.

Colleen - March 22, 2009 - 11:05 am

Thanks for the gentle nudge…Honora’s doll has been waiting for a hat while i knit (slowly) things for real (ahem) people. Now that we’ve sprung forward i may have to try and sew a lid.

It is a thousand times better to have common sense without education than to have education without common sense.

Angie Neil - January 15, 2011 - 12:55 pm

Thank you so much for sharing how you did this! Loving the rainbow thread too!!

Carrie - January 15, 2011 - 1:05 pm

Bonnie Moore - January 16, 2011 - 3:45 am

Very cute, and a great idea, Christina! Thank you. Have you ever posted a tutorial on attaching hair? You are correct that your dolls’ hair is the best – I’d love a description of how you prepare and attach that, too, if you haven’t already posted it in the blogosphere somewhere!

lindsay - January 19, 2011 - 1:09 pm

Thanks for the tutorial. By the way, I love the aqua-ish coat in the background of the top pic. :)

I have to share..

I’ve been working a little bit on the new Flickr page that will have photos of children and their dolls and pictures of things people have made for their Bamboletta’s. I’ve just gone through photos that people have sent me to use on the site and posted them – I have a bunch more that […]

How exciting. I love how similar the dolls are to their recipients. That makes them so special. :)

admin - March 17, 2009 - 3:46 pm

It just turns out that way – it’s very cool when it happens!

Christy in OH - March 18, 2009 - 8:25 am

CanCan (Mom Most Traveled) - March 18, 2009 - 11:16 pm

Oh my gosh. I am such a nerd. These pictures make me want to cry dorky mommy tears, like when I watch a touching commercial.

erin - March 19, 2009 - 8:47 am

hello lovely
you’re most welcome to use any pics you have of my monkeys with their babies!…do you need me to re-send?
xx e.

Candice – I get all weepy too!! It’s just the joy on their faces, it takes a lot for us adults to experience that pureness that comes so easy for children. There is a moment of ‘connect’ that is hard to explain when a child gets their doll – it’s amazing!
Thanks Shawn and Christy!
Oh, yes Erin! I would love those pics resent!!

sneak peaks!

I’m gearing up for the store ‘opening’ which I’m thinking will be around the middle of April (?). I am so excited about this next step in our business. First off, we are building up doll stock so that there will be a good assortment of dolls ‘ready to come home’ and  getting a good […]

I’m so very excited! We’re saving our pennies so that we can get a Bamboletta for our daughter’s birthday this May. It looks like we’ll have to get a riding hood and bonnet, too! Congratulations on getting so many other talented folks to support your beautiful work.

Part 9 (!) of Lucy’s journey with Heather and Greg from Project Somos! If you are reading about Lucy for the first time, she is a Bamboletta ambassador travelling in Guatemala, hanging out with Heather and Greg while they establish a eco village for abandoned and orphaned children. Esperanza’s niece, Sandra came through with Lucita’s […]

I’m so glad she has a sweater, but I must say the red one is too cute. Drink lots ot tea, not so much for Lucy…we dont want her to get all soggy.

Doll Winner

And the winner of Jasmyn is Colleen! Congrats Colleen! I have to admit, I was quite excited when I saw Colleen’s name – she was one of my first customers on Etsy. I made her a doll for her daughter to mark the birth of her second child and now she is expecting her third […]
