Shelley - December 13, 2009 - 4:23 am

Oh I love her, and my daughter would too (her favorite color is purple). We’ve had a string of bad luck lately and it would be nice to start turning it around with her. Crossing my fingers!

Lee - December 13, 2009 - 4:28 am

She would definitely be loved here at our house! Thank you for the contest.

Cordelia - December 13, 2009 - 4:34 am

How exciting! I love your dolls and hope some day to own one. Thank you for doing this!

dixie - December 13, 2009 - 4:59 am

This is my first time visiting your site. What a cute little girl. Reminds me of my niece who I’m sure would also like to have purple highlights in her hair.

style_child - December 13, 2009 - 5:09 am

I’ve just found your dolls and have to say, they’re gorgy! I had to do a double take with this little one’s name! My daughter recently named one of her stuffed animal cats Serephina! NOT a common name and I have no idea where she would’ve heard it to come up with that. Anyway…would love to add another Serephina to our fam!!

Amber Lee - December 13, 2009 - 5:13 am

Oh all your dolls are so amazing! I can’t decide which part of them I love the most… I think it might be the hair!

Carla - December 13, 2009 - 5:14 am

Angelic name for an angelic doll! Perfect, as always!

tree*head - December 13, 2009 - 5:23 am

Eric Jackson - December 13, 2009 - 5:33 am

Please enter my name- Id like to win her for my wife for Christmas. It would be perfect since it looks just like her, even the purple highlights!! Thank you!

Marla Stout - December 13, 2009 - 5:34 am

Oh wow, Christina, she is GORGEOUS. I think one of the things that makes your dolls so special is the spirit in which they are made and because each one holds not just a piece of your heart, but the other ladies, and John, as well. They are so much like real children. As you know, we already have our perfect Bambo for the holidays, so to stay in the spirit, if I should happen to win, I plan to pay Seraphina forward to a little girl that hasn’t yet been lucky enough to get such a special doll. Happy holidays to you and your family! Hugs, ~Marla

Louisa - December 13, 2009 - 5:35 am

Your dolls are amazing! I’ve always wished for purple highlights, so Serephina is a particular favorite. What a very generous give away!

Jennifer R - December 13, 2009 - 5:36 am

She is so cute, we have not been lucky enough to get one yet.

Catherine - December 13, 2009 - 5:38 am

Love her! It’s funny as this is this is the hair/eye/dress combo I’d requested for my custom, but you were out of this fabric at the time. Now I know I do really need to stalk the clothing section for something in this fabric as it looks wonderful with the black haired dolls (but we loved the dress Tia (who we are renaming Holly) came with too!)

Liz - December 13, 2009 - 5:40 am

Another adorable doll, and so nice of you to give her away! Would love to have her join our family.

rachael - December 13, 2009 - 5:42 am

Amanda - December 13, 2009 - 6:18 am

I am hoping to get one of these gorgeous dolls for my daughter, who is now two and a half years old. She was born 15 weeks early and after a long initial hospitalization, is perfectly healthy. She was sitting on my lap as I browsed the site and pointing at the dolls and chattering away about them.

We’re a little late to the party with regard to how in-demand your beautiful dolls are, so I’m excited about the chance to win one. Thanks for the opportunity!

Jennifer - December 13, 2009 - 6:20 am

Your dolls remind me of my childhood, (aka the good old days) You both have a calling and gift from above. You make families happy and whole again, and for that I thank you :)

Joanne G - December 13, 2009 - 7:32 am

She’s such a cutie and love the purple!

Thank you Christina for brightening up so many little girls lives with your dolls. You have a true talent! I admire you for staying true to your values and wanting to keep your business manageable (lol right now not so much with the Christmas rush). I love the fact that your dolls are made with Canadian wool, for me it’s something very dear to my heart. I was born and raised just south of Ottawa on a sheep farm. Ok and don’t laugh at this but I was crowned Miss Eastern Ontario Sheep Princess back in the 80’s and part of my duty was to promote the Canadian wool industry in Canada. And most of all it’s nice to be able to give my daughter something that is Canadian made as it’s a rarity these days.

So again, thanks for all that you give our daughters, because as you know it goes well beyond just a doll!

Deborah Dewbury-Langley - December 13, 2009 - 7:33 am

We would love for Serephina to be a member of our family if we would be so fortunate.
And if it did happen you would probably here us all hooting and hollering with excitement all the way from Ontario to British Columbia!!

This one should be mine !!! :)

Valerie - December 13, 2009 - 2:47 pm

Heard about your dolls a couple of years ago and couldn’t afford one at that time. Now that I can afford them I can’t get them. The irony of life sometimes. I’ll keep trying but I am also willing to accept that if I wasn’t meant to have one it won’t happen and if I was it will. With three kids if I only get one it will be tough to decide who gets it. At least I know that my kids will be getting handmade toys and gifts from across Canada no matter if I get a Bamboletta or not.

Wendie - December 13, 2009 - 2:52 pm

Thank you for all the hard work you put into making Christmas extra special for so many wee ones (and their mamas!). You have an amazing gift…thank you for sharing it with us!

Oh I would LOVE to win a doll for my Ally, she is just in love with dolls lately and things have been tight financially. I don’t think we’ll be ordering a doll or custom any time soon though I LOVE looking at them and hope to save for one for her birthday next November. What a beautiful doll, and if we don’t win…it wasn’t meant to be our girl. Totally agree that the right doll finds the right home. Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and what a great thing to do to have a contest.

Tanya B - December 13, 2009 - 6:56 pm

Love the dark hair!! My 2 1/2 year old would love her!!! Send her to Idaho. :)

Rebecca - December 13, 2009 - 7:03 pm

Seraphina is a beautiful, serious dream! The artful cherubs you make are truly the stuff of dreams, if you’ll forgive a cliche. And here is me, dreaming that Seraphina will make it to our house, to join my sweet daughter Merida, who, right now, I hope, is having sweet dreams of a little dark-haired friend, with that mystical look of contentment on her soft, soft face.

Lisa Marie Macri - December 13, 2009 - 7:22 pm

OK, seriously, how ridiculously cute is Seraphina!?! We would be considered some lucky peeps if she made the trip down to NJ to live with us. I have one 19 month old babytown at home named Olivia, and another that is literally waiting to burst forth from my womb any day now (Sylvie is her name) and they would be delighted to have a new sista in their house. Looking forward either way to see on FB who the random winner is- good luck to all you Bamboletta sassafrasses out there!

Amy - December 13, 2009 - 7:34 pm

michelle hsieh - December 14, 2009 - 1:25 am

She is soo cute! Thanks for having this contest!

Natalie - December 14, 2009 - 1:26 am

I suppose it would be tacky to say I want this doll because she looks a bit like me. I even wore my hair like that today! It would be for my son, of course, but I would play with her too. So sue me, I guess I’m tacky.

Beatriz - December 14, 2009 - 1:47 am

Impressive work! It brought me back to the time when I got my first hand-made doll. This is what playing/learning should be all about: learning how to value toys as important pieces of art work that need to be cherished, not disposable pieces of plastic.

I will promote your beautiful dolls as much as I can in the DC area, and one of them will certainly be on my Xmas (or late Xmas) list. Keep up with the good work!

Happy holidays!
B.

Adrianne - December 14, 2009 - 1:48 am

Justina - December 14, 2009 - 4:20 am

Yesterday morning, I was one of the many who attempted to purchase a doll (Noelle, specifically) for my daughter. Absolutely amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it…after going to “check out” with my first choice, I thought I should go back to the home page at 11:02 (EST) to purchase a second doll (heeding your warnings and thinking I might have had a slim chance for the first choice), and when I did, all of those sweet dolls were sold out. You and your family of mamas and papas have made so many little girls happy; I just can’t wait until my little one can cuddle with her own bamboletta.

karina - December 14, 2009 - 4:29 am

NOOOOOO! Australian fan is crying :(

Its ok, I will be ok :)
But I am getting a double entry next time 😉

Thank you for making such gorgeous, one-of-a-kind dolls. :)

Shea - December 14, 2009 - 9:34 am

Want. Need. Gotta have her! Your dolls are all so darling.

Anastasia - December 14, 2009 - 9:35 am

I had been looking long, but apparently not hard enough!, for a sweet, simple, non-plastic/factory-made doll for my four year old daughter. Ava has been requesting a doll that she can dress and undress with ‘cute clothes like me’ and I had settled for a doll that I wasn’t crazy about but knew my daughter would like her!

Looking for extra outfits today on etsy, I came across clothes made for a Bamboletta and, oh dear… I immediately fell in love. Your dolls are just perfection – the materials and construction alone, but aside from that, they are absolutely darling and full of so much personality! I have been poring over your flickr page and stalking them all over the internet – I’m ruined! I would absolutely love to have this sweet girl for my sweet girl this Christmas, but I know where ever she lands she will be loved & adored.

Love, love, love what you’re doing. Keep up the beautiful work & Merry Christmas to all of you!

Serephina would absolutely make her birthday special this year and I know she would be the best birthday present ever (especially since Mommy hasn’t been able to snag a doll to adopt yet)! After much debate with my husband, then a soft sell, then a hard sell, we finally AGREED tp started looking for a doll for my 5 year old son. His birthday is today and he is such a nurturer that I think he will really treasure these beautiful dolls. I spent hours on line and your dolls stand head and shoulders above the rest. They are really special. He’s always wanted a little sib, so hopefully he’ll have his own bamboletta soon and can practice his big-brothering for the real one (finally!) growing in my belly. Thank you for all your hard work on these unbelievable dolls! Happy holidays!

Marissa - December 15, 2009 - 4:35 pm

Wow! She’s beautiful! I have a nine yr old little girl who would love to be her “big sister!” Happy holidays to you and yours. ♥

Brenda D. - December 15, 2009 - 5:06 pm

I was so happy to learn about your dolls! I have a daughter who is 3 in February. Her favourite play activity at the moment is to dress up her stuffed animals and oversized puppet from Folkmanis called Curlylocks. Serephina, a doll that has clothes expecially made for her would be a huge bonus, as currently my daughter takes her own clothes, from underwear to blouses, and forces them to fit on all her stuffies and Curlylocks. Serephina would be a great addition to our family! We hope to also be a lucky download for the Custom doll today at 6pm. I like the natural toys and try to stay away from plastic. So, the love, skill and thoughtfulness of materials put into your dolls is greatly appreciated! We can’t wait to have our very own! Happy Holidays and all the best in 2010!

Nancy - December 15, 2009 - 5:07 pm

Who We Are

There are a lot of new people coming to Bamboletta – like a LOT so I thought I’d take this opportunity to introduce us. I think that with all the press and attention that we’ve received as of late that people may think that we are way bigger then what we actually are. Bamboletta consists […]

Very nice, Christina! A gentle reminder of the process – and of the relationship built between doll maker + doll, dollmaker + customer. I hope this helps to ease demanding demand.

Wendie - December 8, 2009 - 12:27 pm

Thank you for staying true to what you believe in, Christina. You have a beautiful heart and it shines through in every doll you create. You add a little bit of magic to our lives.

Jennifer - December 8, 2009 - 1:32 pm

Christina you are such a love, and it shows in your words and the work you do with your beautiful dolls. Hopefully your entry helps people understand the time and energy you put into your business.

Maggie was was well worth the wait for us.

Love and laughter.

Emily M. - December 8, 2009 - 1:53 pm

lovely post, christina!

Amber - December 8, 2009 - 5:54 pm

Your dolls really are treasures, and I am glad that you are holding true to the process that makes them so special. This is the magic, and challenge, of handmade items. They are not mass-produced, so not everyone can have one. But you would lose an essential part of what Bambolettas are if you sacrificed that.

ingrid - December 8, 2009 - 8:49 pm

I liken it to having or adopting a baby. You don’t really know what it will look like even though you may have chosen the hair or eyes. And part of the excitement is the waiting and hoping and wondering what this little addition to your family will be like. We’re not simply just “buying” a doll for our little ones, but adopting a lifelong friend/sister/brother/companion. How can you rush that? And why would you want to? And through this process you become a part of the Bamboletta family. It’s really a lot more than just buying a doll.

Can Can (Mom Most Traveled) - December 8, 2009 - 10:50 pm

I’m excited about these big developments for Bamboletta!
I wonder what the world Bamboletta population is?

Ann - December 9, 2009 - 1:12 am

Hello Christina – many thanks for the beautiful doll you made for my granddaughter in the summer – she arrived just before the new baby brother – and she was so full of life! And thank you for the little pixie you sent for James, that was very kind of you. Your dolls are real people to our children – we are all so grateful for the love you put into them – it really shows! Good luck!

Amy VG - December 9, 2009 - 6:25 am

What a lovely reminder. I think it’s hard to people to understand the entire lengthy process of handmaking something. I think it’s so amazing that you are willing to stay your current size and not feel like you have to expand, especially when you don’t want to. So awesome! Thank you Christina, for being so commited to lovingly providing such special dolls for our children.

Anne Bente - December 9, 2009 - 2:44 pm

The image you have got lately, I suppose, is because of the soul you give each doll you make. I’m so glad we managed to get Koah and Lisette( The Little Seth as Elisabeth call her:) before the “rush” started in here. Wish you all a peaceful Christmas!

Jill Gustafson - December 13, 2009 - 11:23 am

Christina, I think it is these values that led me to love your dolls in the first place. It is your loving caring virtues that are put into these dolls that make them so special. They would be lacking something terribly and just be plain dolls otherwise. You bring so much happiness to so many homes. I can’t imagine what that must feel like or imagine ever wanting to give that up. You are truly special.

Amanda - December 13, 2009 - 12:12 pm

I just wanted to chime in and say how amazing you and these wonderful dolls are. I was lucky enough to sneak in right before the custom ordering deadline, and Santa will be bringing “Nellie” to Julianne this Christmas. She is truly AMAZING, and I have to stop myself daily from pulling her out of hiding to oohhh and ahhhh over her! Julianne will be over the moon excited when she sees her Christmas morning — I’ll be sure to snap some pictures when she meets her new mommy! Thanks so much!!

Leanne - December 14, 2009 - 8:37 am

Christina, I keep coming back to soak in all her details. She reminds me so much of my little Miss L :) You really have a gift for capturing a personality with each doll. Thank you for the smile!

Kristy - December 15, 2009 - 11:47 pm

Sometimes good things come in small packages…or in this case small batches. Each one evident in the love and care then went into crafting it…I say crafting as these Bambolettas are not manufactured or produced, but lovingly created to bring joy to all (mamans, girls, boys…and even dads : ) I’ve enjoyed watching in the last year or so as more and more families become aware… as customs, ready to go and clothing disappear off the sight in minutes. This is a testiment to your hard work: Christina, John and all the others. Keep up the good work! On a side note, getting Bea ready for Christmas…can.hardly.wait!! LOL

It’s almost time for customs!

I’ve been trying to get organized for the re opening of custom dolls. I’ve got the fabric on order.. . I’ll probably change the fabric choices pretty often. I tend to get tired of prints fairly quickly, except the Folklore (the one with the squirrels) I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of that. In […]

We are too big fans of the squirrel one too and then I also like the doll one…Have you seen the downloadable dolls like that you can make from paper at Mahar Dry Goods…So cute, Waiting for the 15th…..

Cheryl K-L - December 3, 2009 - 10:59 am

Oh I love the My Folklore fabric too!!!! And I think others do too. I sold out in a week after I posted it and then found out that the manufacturer has discontinued it and is no longer printing it. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I know my daughter is a bit young for the dolls but can I just purchase a shirt for a future doll made with this fabric? LOL.

admin - December 3, 2009 - 4:25 pm

say it ain’t so Cheryl! thanks for the heads up. i’m going to get my fabric for curtains now then. i have a vision of my studio with curtains made with folklore.
of course you can get a shirt with the fabric!! the kimonos are cute in it.

April - December 4, 2009 - 11:47 am

Whoa, how awesome is THAT that you have to increase your bandwidth to accommodate your fans?

Good job!
April

admin - December 4, 2009 - 12:40 pm

hello friend! yes, the bandwidth and I’m looking at figuring out how to make this whole process more streamlined. we had almost 1200 people on the site at the same time all after the Friday dolls. i’m learning all sorts of website things, like how to ‘span’ your site – very interesting. you are totally first on my list April – you know that :) xo c

Kristy - December 7, 2009 - 10:07 pm

I love the new fabric!! I think it’s great that so many families are looking to get a bamboletta. I’m glad I ordered Marlie’s custom in July though. I hope you have a wonderful Holiday time with your family and do hope you take a much needed break (and go see New Moon??) I’ve seen it twice and can’t wait for Eclipse! 😀

rachel - December 8, 2009 - 8:17 pm

I sure hope that I get a chance to get dolls for my 3 kids someday. I just keep missing them on your site.
