Studio Style

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had an amazing week this week! We’ve had a busy week as always at Whippletree. There’s been many a round table discussion about our soon-to-be launched new ‘Sitting Dolls‘!! Lots of perfecting and testing and stuffing and unstuffing. The end result dolls are looking absolutely gorgeous and are just so huggable and sweet, we are all so in love and can’t WAIT to introduce them to our weekly uploads!

In keeping up with our new weekly edition of ‘Studio Style’ where I take shots of some of the ladies around the studio during the week who are looking particularly cute (but believe me, it could be any one of us at any time, so this really isn’t a tough job, lol). So here are this weeks cuties!…

Jennie: Blouse (‘Mine’), Boots (Vintage)

Rachel: Dress (Folter), Boot (Born)

Sarah: Scarf (H&M), Leggings & Legwarmers (Ardene), Sweater Dress (Joe), Shoes (Winners), Earrings (London Drugs)

Christy: Necklace (Tibetan Prayer Beads), Dress (Old Navy), Bolero (Vintage), Tights (Kische), Moccasins (70’s Vintage from Manitoba)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I’m hoping sunny skies are in everyones forecast…I don’t know about you all, but I would LOVE some sun on my face!

Sitting Doll Progression …

We’ve been working away at these new sitting style dolls, that I think I’ll call Sitting Dolls because we are calling them that around the shop. It’s been about 5 weeks that Sam and I have been working on patterns and trying different things. We really want to get the proportion right and then worked in the feedback we got from our fabulous testers! Anyhow, I thought it would be fun to show the progression. I’ll have a picture of the latest draft up tomorrow on our Facebook page (we are currently sewing the head on and the face). Fun times, I LOVE doing this sort of thing!

These dolls should be showing up on the site in a few weeks and as far as pricing (we’ve had a few questions about this) they will be the same if not slightly lower priced then our traditional 15″ doll. We have to figure out the timing on the sewing part of it ..

LOVE! LOVE! Just love seeing this collage of what goes on and how this new body style of doll is put together.
Very exciting and super excited to see pictures of the cuties when they make their way into homes all over the world.
So wonderful how the process is shared and makes you feel like you are a part of it even though I am just getting to watch.

Happy awesome Friday everyone! It’s been a great week here in Bamboletta land and we’re ending it on a super upbeat note, the sun is shining and everyone is busy rolling, sewing, stuffing, hair making, nose sewing and, well, computer typing! Today is our second edition of Studio Style and I just want to say, thank you to everyone for the positive feedback! No matter the content, we just love sharing a bit of our world with all of you out there and this is just one of those ways we feel we can invite you through our doors even if you’re on the other side of the globe! So, without further adieu, this weeks stylin’ gals…

Love the red door back drop and how much you’re all having!!

Kim Giovannini - April 1, 2013 - 7:54 am

Gah!! Thamar’s dress is crazy cool. and I must say that the Blundstones from Shauna have been my drool-pool boots since college. (which was only a few weeks ago, right?! more like 15 years ago) This is so fun to see!

When I first started stuffing doll arms & legs with chopsticks, I noticed that I was getting really sore on the palms of my hands from the bottom of the chopstick digging into my skin as I pushed the wool tightly into the body parts. I wondered how I could remedy this discomfort.
One night when I got home I saw my son’s leather baseball glove sitting there waiting for me to pick it up. (Fortunately he decided that baseball wasn’t his thing anymore) I brought the glove into the shop and put it on my hand with a tuft of wool between my hand and the glove. The glove was so tight so I took it off and just placed it in between my hand and the chopstick each time. This gave me better grip on the chopstick and the wool helped cushion my hand from the hard wooden end. It really works great for me.
One day I couldn’t find my glove and when I went out for my walk at lunch, I found a new adult sized leather glove laying amongst the array of tea pots sitting in the trees near our studio. It looked like the glove of my stuffing dreams! I checked around with the local folk near the studio and heard that the glove was there for a long time already.  (If you lost a glove near our studio, come on in and you can have it back!)  Even though this glove fits my hand, I still just hold it in between my hand and the chopstick with the cushioning wool inside it. Funny enough the baseball glove mysteriously made it back to my home the same day I found the other glove.
The glove became another inspiration for the many jokes that go on at Bamboletta. Often the glove can be found tightly holding a chopstick without any hand in sight.

Studio Style

Happy Friday friends!!

I am starting a new weekly blog called ‘Studio Style’ about, well, you guessed it, our ladies stylin’ outfits in the studio! There’s been lots of comments in the past about how we ladies dress up and I know personally I’m pretty excited to be out of the house and at work and so every day is like an occasion…plus I work with the best audience of friends ever, so even in my sickest state, someone always has something nice to say…

So, here it goes, this weeks first style post:

I think it would probably be nice to include where some of our bits and pieces are from, but I didn’t think about it until now, lol, but I can try here from memory…

Jennie: Necklace from Nest Pretty Things, Boots (Vintage (I believe))

Thamar: Scarf (Vintage), Jacket (H&M), Blouse(Vintage), Pants (H&M), Boots (Bovendert)

Christina: Necklace ( Scarlett Fire Jewels), Jacket (Danier Leather), Sweater (Free People), Jeans (JBrand), Boots (Fluevog)

Brooke: Hat (Vintage), Glasses (BonLook), Sweater (Plenty), Button-up Shirt (Vintage Ralph Lauren), Jeans (H&M), Shoes (Converse)

Btw, Christina (the photographer) is like the worst to shoot a photo of, LOL! You might notice she refused to stand infront of my red backdrop and I had to take a thousand photos of her, and she’s the custest, so why? Why Christina?!

So, let me know what you ladies think of this new blog idea, I would love your input!

Thank you and happy Friday!!!!!!
