Keeping your dollie warm this fall..

I am so happy to be able to share this with all of you! I’ve been working with Brandy over at Pixie Purls to come up with a Bamboletta sweater pattern for all of you to knit up and keep your dollies cozy and warm on these cool days. I’d love to see pictures of […]

YES!!!!! I love this sweater and will SURELY make several! I am picky about the look of the cardis and this is just perfect for me. I’ve tried a few other free patterns and haven’t been feeling the garter stitch love on them. I adore pixie purls and her cute baby knits (and I miss the old fiber/spinning forum she used to run). What an awesome twosome you guys make! Thank you both so much for putting this out and for FREE no less.

Amber - October 24, 2009 - 11:14 pm

That is fabulous! I have long wanted to knit our little girl a sweater, but didn’t dare brave it. Thank you so much for the pattern! :)

Ramona - October 25, 2009 - 1:44 am

oh yes. that’s what I will knit!

Shelley - October 25, 2009 - 4:36 am

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have my daughter’s doll squirreled away for Christmas, and was planning to knit her a little sweater. This is perfect. Thanks so much for the pattern. I’ve really enjoyed the other patterns that I’ve knit from Pixie Purls, so I can’t wait to get out my needles.

erin - October 25, 2009 - 3:22 pm

wow – maybe this teeny sweater is one i will actually complete! thanks lady! xo e.

Alison - October 25, 2009 - 7:45 pm

Thanks Christina, Brandy and Carla for the sweater pattern!! You are all generous and wonderful people. There are going to be hundreds of Bambolettas all over the world that will have a warm and cozy fall or spring, and lots of happy children. The world needs more people with wonderful hearts like you. Thank you!!

Bonnie - October 26, 2009 - 9:37 am

I don’t believe it! On my to-do list is a note to send you a photo of the matching sweaters I knit for my daughter and her doll, along with the suggestion to offer knitting patterns for your dolls! You have totally read my mind! I will knit this up for sure. Great stocking stuffer idea!

Mary Claire - October 28, 2009 - 7:41 am

I haven’t even bought a doll yet but will get my knitting guru Mom on this straight away so it’s ready for the holidays! THANK YOU.

Can’t wait to see the dolls coming out in November and to choose one for my two year old sweetie!

Maddie - November 1, 2009 - 8:28 am

I thought I’d already posted a little thank-you, but can’t see it here! Anyway, I thought I’d post an update because in the meantime I have officially started my first knit-with-a-pattern-project! This is so exciting. Thank you for the pattern!

fern ives - December 13, 2009 - 2:22 pm

im knitting one as a christmas gift for my 4 year old. she is going to love it! i dyed the yarn myself in shades of pink. so lovely! a matching hat will make a set for her one day bamboletta doll!

Janie - February 18, 2010 - 5:45 am

I love this little pattern, but what can I knit it with? In the UK no yarn is called ‘fingering’. Please could you tell me what ply this is? Could I knit it in 4 ply? (like a sock yarn?)
Thank you for your time and best wishes
Janie

Rita Privette - March 6, 2010 - 6:20 am

I LOVE THAT SWEATER my doll would stay warm in that.

Atarah - December 7, 2012 - 3:55 pm

The link seems to be broken. :-( I was really hoping to knit this for my little one. The Pixie Purls site also has the bad link to the pattern. :-(

Belinda - January 7, 2013 - 4:40 pm

Hi, I’d really love to try knitting this to keep my doll warm when she arrives but the link to the pattern doesn’t work. I say try because I’m not very good at knitting but I’m willing to give it a go if you can let me know how to find the pattern :)

Belinda - January 7, 2013 - 5:11 pm
moBecky - January 31, 2013 - 1:01 pm

Thank you Belinda for finding the pattern! I had given up hope. I can’t wait to cast this on :)

Kari - October 16, 2009 - 8:24 am

Congrats Sara! How exciting that your little girl WILL get her package!

cheryl - October 16, 2009 - 12:00 pm

Its actually the part of the doll making you don’t see thats the best, its when your child hugs her doll close or your son falls asleep next to him. They wake to find them and play with them. They are amazing to watch your child bond with these dolls and the love that they show towards them and maybe they will help raise a kinder soul for the future…Thank you.

Jennifer - October 16, 2009 - 12:00 pm

Congratulations Sara we are very jealous in our house.
LOL at grandma Bamboletta’s asking for the contest to be fudged.
Maybe next contest will be our lucky one. :)

Kari - October 4, 2009 - 5:32 pm

What a beautiful plan. I can just imagine what a peacful place these children will have to live. =)

Kathy Valencia - October 4, 2009 - 5:34 pm

I am so happy to hear of the help that will be provided in Guatemala. We adopted our daughter from Guatelama and brought her home in March 2008. My husband and I are so sad to hear about the hault in adoptions there even though it was necessary to bring some order to the adoption process. Our daughter is very special to us and hope someday that we would be able to adopt from Guatemala again. Your dolls are too cute, and I plan for Bella’s Gotcha Day in March to get her one of your dolls.

Heather - October 5, 2009 - 11:19 am

It has been really sad and difficult since inter-country adoptions closed in Guatemala. Many homes have closed and there is only so much space in the state-run orphanages. And having spent time in one and heard about others, these are no place for a child to spend their childhood! We’ve already been approached by one organization that has six kids that “fell through the cracks” when adoptions closed. We are willing to take them as soon as we can! It makes it all that more urgent to be there on the ground. Thanks for all the support!

Sarah Riggs - October 5, 2009 - 8:06 pm

Hey, Christina!

I visited the website and hopefully sucessfully placed an opening bid on your beautiful doll up for auction. What a wonderful charity!! :o)

Leanne - December 4, 2009 - 9:08 pm

I love this story! Our daughter’s name is Lauren and while she was in the orphanage in Guatemala they called her “Laurita” because she was so tiny. It brought a smile to my face just thinking about it. What a wonderful cause!

Amy looks like Little Red Riding Hood! She just needs some forest friends and a toadstool to rest on. I have been following your work for so long. I love the pictures of all your dolls. They all have such cute personalities and are distinctly “Bamboletta.” I saw a magazine article on Flickr the other day. It was posted by the creator of the dresses, but I KNEW the dolls were yours. They were set in a field. A blonde and a redhead. It was so cute!! My daughter has a beloved little plastic baby her Aunt gave her. She doesn’t even know what she’s missing! I wish my daughter could have a Bamboletta to snuggle with and protect her when she’s feeling shy and send her off to sweet dreams each night.

Your heart is so big Christina. Thank you for your inspiration and generosity! :)

Your dolls are so beautiful! It would be such a blessing to win one of them for my daughter this holiday season.

Angela - November 4, 2009 - 11:18 am

It’s a labor of love. I’ve made one doll similar to that and know that they should be priceless. My daughter already own one that I made (my first and only creation). My desire to own this one from you is to give it to my mother. She is a very graceful lady and love children. She lives alone and this doll will be a very sweet reminder to her of all the lives that she has touch and heal, and keeps her heart warm at night.

Shawnah Flyte - December 15, 2009 - 6:50 pm

I would love to give Amy to a special friend that has me stalking these beautiful dolls :) for her two children. She would love one for her son and daughter for Christmas. But we both seem to be a little internet slow. LOL. It would be a great gift to send her way since she’s always been so wonderful to me.

Monica - May 12, 2010 - 5:20 pm

Hi there, Just a short note to say hi and tell you that I love reading your blog. I can appreciate the work you do to promote your dolls, I find that very inspiring because I run my an online shop too selling handcrafts from Peru. I also sell Waldorf Steiner dolls fromm a social project in Peru but mine and yours are different in style, I think that each artist develop their own style and that is what makes these dolls special. All the best, Monica.
