Yeah, a Winner ๐Ÿ™‚

John has done the honors and has picked a winner for my ‘Advice and Win a Doll’ contest. The lucky winner is Julie! I’ve emailed her already with the good news. It’s not my Julie that I talk about all the time BTW, it’s another Julie.

I can’t begin to tell you all how much each and every one of your comments has been truly appreciated. I’m still a bit undecided. I know that red head/rainbow sweater is very popular but I think she may be a bit too busy, my background in the ad is the same blue as my site so I’m thinking if I put her in there it may be too much of a contrast. Hmm, I have to think about this a bit more. Again, thanks to all of you. If you all lived here I’d invite you over for tea and crumble.

I’m going to be laying low on Etsy until early September. I have to build up stock for next weeks Farmer’s Market (and I just found out John can take the day off to attend with me!) and I have a window display to get dolls ready for that starts Sept. 1 at Birkeland Brothers on Main Street, one of my most favorite places in the world! I’ll still be making a few dolls for Natural Pod in the meantime. I’ll post them as I make them.

BTW, here are two new gals up on NP..

OMG, did you guys see the opening of the Olympics? Usually, I’m not really interested in these things. Especially with all the ‘Team Visa’ ads that are on, that just seems really wrong to me. I feel I should explain something here. My workshop is right next to ‘John’s room’ where he goes to every night , we have a doorway that we can see and talk to each other through.. he watches the endless commentary on English Premier League Football and documentaries on animals and I blog/ email people and maybe sew if Jasper is happy playing with fabric or balls of yarn. Anyhow, last night he called me through to watch the opening ceremonies with the thousands monks preforming (not to o sure if they were really monks though), all the men doing Tai Chi (like thousands of them doing it at the same time) and then a pretty scary performance by Sarah Brightman.ย  Anyhow, it was pretty impressive.. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. But all that I kept thinking of, and I’m sure all my fellow BC-ers did as well, was ‘and we are having the 2010 opening at BC Place?..hmmm..’ For all of you who don’t know BC Place is a pretty run down stadium that was built in the 80’s. Not very impressive. I do have to say that I like watching gymnastics though, it’s left over from my childhood of idolizing Mary Lou Retton . Even had the hairdo, not so nice on a gal with curly hair.. those were ugly years.

Oh, and what is wrong with Kelly Ripa’s arms? They have surpassed Madonna’s in girth. Is that really necessary? Maybe I’m just jealous.

Congratulations Julie! I’m thrilled for you!

Good luck Christina, choosing a doll for your ad…I imagine it *is* tough…with them all being such ooak little loves. Honestly, I don’t think you could go wrong. The each exude such personality. I’m excited to see what you choose. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have missed most of the Olympic fanfare…my Bear has been just that…a bear. He doesn’t want to sleep, or ever be put down for that matter…so, we’re struggling at that time of night. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope to catch some of it though!

I sure wish I were just a tad bit closer to you. I’d get my kiddos passports to see all the dolls in person…I’m going to miss oogling your etsy each Friday. I am on your Christmas custom list though, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I watched the opening ceremonies, they’re always my favourite part of the Olympics. So much pomp, fanfare, and hopefulness. Although it felt less hopeful this time, and just more amazingly huge. I am curious to see what we do for 2010.

And I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that Sarah Brightman’s performance was scary. It totally gave me the heebie-jeebies. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Hi Monica.. thanks for your kind words! Ohh, I do know about ‘bears’ ๐Ÿ™‚ I have one little one right now, it’s hard. And yes, you are on the list!
Hi Amber, it did feel less hopeful. I didn’t want to get into my political views in the post but the whole environment theme and embracing cultures seemed a bit far fetched. I’m curious about ours as well, especially with those weird mascots we have. SB.. she looked like she was on something pretty strong. lol..

I saw some parts of the opening ceremony, it looked pretty impressive. Didn’t see Sarah Brightman though. I always think she has a beautiful voice, how was her singing?
Btw, I think you should pick the freckled doll for your ad (I’m plugging my choice again, haha)!
Kelly Ripa, I only know her from pictures online and mags, I saw one of her last week and she looked really really skinny. Perhaps her arms are not bigger but the rest of her got smaller. ๐Ÿ˜‰ What does she do anyway (job I mean), she looks like a bit of a Barbie type to me.
I was thinking for the umpteenth time this morning about Etsy and opening a shop for myself and I concluded -again- that I think you’ve found such a good name for such a beautiful thing. My compliments!! I’m sure Bamboletta will become even more of a success in the future. I used to collect My Child dolls and your dolls remind me of those.

Hi Christine ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh Sarah’s singing was a lip snyc, so it was fine..but she just looked like a weird robot- very creepy look in her eyes. Now there are rumours circulating n how the Olympic ceremonies had ‘fakery’ in them..i.c the fireworks were actually CG and the little girl who was singing, well it wasn’t her voice because the real girls wasn’t deemed pretty enough..there’s a little internet gossip for you!
Kelly Ripa is a talk show girl and I think she has her own show. Her arms are ssoo big, she looks like a femail body builder. But what is strange is that her body is tiny but then she has these huge arms.
Thanks for the name/doll compliments. If you ever need to run names by me, I’m all ears ๐Ÿ™‚ We could have a virtual cup of tea and chat abut it ๐Ÿ™‚
