Staying Connected …

merridale 070

My ladies this weekend for a Spring Lunch at Merridale Cider 🙂 It’s from my phone and I can’t seem to get it bigger ..

I feel like I am in love right now, as cheesy as it sounds it’s the truth. I love my Bamboletta ladies (and John obviously!)  SO much – omg – what a group. It’s honestly like a family with us .. It’s like these ladies are an extension of some part Bamboletta. I do realize this may not make sense so bear with me.. I’ve had Bamboletta almost 10 years now and most I’ve done on my own. It’s been really hard to let go of things and let others do things I’ve done for so many years. The ladies all have such a unique set of strengths and skills that I’ve been able to fit them into a ‘piece’ of Bamboletta .. it’s been an amazing thing to watch. I could never run this company unless I had the team that I do. There is something that happens when a group of women come together and work with their hands .. we’ve developed quite the bond.

Then there are you gals (and guys) – our customers. I know I’ve said this again and again but we really DO feel a bond with you .. come on, we make your children’s dolls! This is a big deal!  Over 12 hours of our handwork, in our studio and in our homes,  go into your doll. I started to think last night that if you gals love our dolls as much as we do, well, then I have a pretty good feeling that we’d all be friends. There is something a bit beyond it being ‘just a doll’ when so much time and energy goes into something.

So, this brings me to what I’m trying to get at here. I’d like you gals to get to know us better. Not just about the dolls but about what we love – because I think we have a lot in common! Ever since Facebook has changed over to timeline .. omg.. I HATE IT! I feel so disconnected from everyone – I don’t see your posts and WHY does a post from last year keep showing up at the top there? Gah! It sucks. So, I’m going to keep going on Facebook – nothing has changed on that front but now I’m going to add in Twitter and Pinterest and WAY more blogging. And it’s not going to be just me anymore – my main sidekick in all this is Brooke and I’m leaving her to sort of organize things. Brooke has lots of experience in this sort of thing and is quite possibly one of the funniest people I’ve met – I love this woman!  Myself and all the gals in the shop are going to take turns blogging and a few of us will be tweeting (us with the iPhones) and we’ve been playing around on Pinterest (it’s like an online cork board of things you like). We really just want to connect with you gals a lot more. Petra did write an epic letter to Facebook about how much we hate it so maybe (?) they will change things?

Okay – just wanted to let you know what’s going down in the next few weeks! Talk soon! Really!

PS A lot of people ask us if we can go back to the old Facebook page but alas ALL business pages have to change to Timeline – no choice 🙁 We’d be back to the old page in a second if we could!!

Can you not “undo” timeline once you have it? Just wondering aloud…. I loved your old FB page and love the blog too!

Ugh, I hear you on timeline! It’s the way Facebook is going, and if you get the pintrest app (which I love), you are forced into timeline. It really sucks!!! And it’s not undo-able, sadly.

Hi! Try playing with the format with the new Facebook timeline. If you select the option ‘Highlights’ and change it to ‘Posts by Page’ you won’t see posts from a year ago at the top. Play with these few features and you’ll like it more. Also, post more pictures to the timeline…it is more a visual space rather than information. =( But that might be a good thing for you since your dolls are so beautiful. ~Suzanne
