Holy Smokes

I just got back this afternoon from another weekend in the ‘big city’. I went to attend my first Farmer’s Market on Saturday at Trout Lake. I took all the stock that I had, mostly so that I had a few extra hands (mom, sister, Nonna) to help me tag everything. I did not expect the kind of response that I got at all, it was pandemonium! I almost sold out of stock aside from a few lavender cuddlies, pouchies and blanket dolls. I’ve never had a sale like that, not even at Christmas time. Whoo! Brakes on the ‘mom bomb’ can now be fixed! I wish that I had a camera with me.. I forgot it at home this time. Thank goodness my lovely sister Laura was there to help out, I couldn’t have done it without her.. thanks Laura!

So, now I have only 3 dolls that I left here at home because they wouldn’t fit in the bin. I will have them up on Etsy at some point this week, not my usual Friday, I’ll post them sooner. It looks so empty here in my work room now with all my girls gone. I think it’s going to be a while until I get some more dolls made. It’s official, Julie -my lovely Julie who helped me with the dolls so incredibly much, has gone on another path and has become a psychic reader. Yes, really. You can book in with her at Mystiques Emporium in Duncan. I will find all the information out soon and post it, she is very good.  Then, my very lovely and loved childcare lady Rachel has left to become a Reiki practitioner. These events were my ‘curveball’ that I mentioned in a previous post-  these two ladies are why I can make dolls right now. I’m currently looking for some childcare and I’m in the process of training Jackie to help me with the dolls… yeah!! It’s all good, just a little setback. It’s just the next step.

I adopted out 12 big dolls and a whole bunch of little ones! Thanks Lindsay, I wish you lived here too 🙂
Monica, it’s really nice over here in Cobble Hill, are you sure I can’t convince you to move 😉 I’ll be back up and running in no time.. it’s always when a lot of things move that great things come in, it’s a bit frustrating but I know it’s all for the best!

How cool you got so much response and sold so well!! Congratulations! Now you need lots of time to make new once, difficult if your trusted people are on to new things (which sounds so great and exciting for them!). I’m sure you’ll work it out. Are you doing more markets?

I’m doing one more market in August on the 16th at the same place. Thanks for the congrats, it felt really good to get such a lovely response. It was a LOT of repeat buyers, sibling dolls, and people who remembered me from previous markets.. and quite a few blog readers..which makes me laugh because I do think no one reads the blog! ha! now I think there are 25 people reading it 🙂
I’m excited for Julie and Rachel too. It’s been quite nice to have Julie around to chat with about things in life..her and I can talk forever. She needs to share her gift with the world now 🙂

thanks Meike! it’s the childcare help i dread looking for the most, it’s hard introducing someone new into your child’s life, it’s only for a few hours in the morning, but i really need to find the right person.

Hi Christina, Congratulations on your Trout Lake sales! Must have been mayhem… good mayhem. I wanted to say I like your mammas-making-dolls idea. What a great way to bring your dolls into the world… and a great community development idea. Good wishes to you!

I read too and I bet there are many who just haven’t let you know! Congrats on the great market success. And good luck as you search for new support…it’s out there! My daughter has a “mini” version of herself that we received from you at Christmas time and we love her. I wish I could give every little person I know one of your dolls. Maybe one day I will learn to make one myself. Thanks for what you do.

I understand completely – my husband is looking for a new job at the moment, so we can move to a more quiet part of the country, and the thing I dread most is having to find a new daycare centre for my daughter. She’s finally gotten used to the lovely girls that look after her now – it took her over a year!!

    Thanks Megan!
I’m so glad that your little girl loves her doll Molly 🙂
It’s really tough isn’t it Meike, Jasper is easier because he is little, but Benj is more difficult- he is so sensitive to people and his surroundings.

Aww Christina, really it was nothing all I did was make change and swipe cards…and helped set up the caravan…so really it was nothing and I enjoyed it (minus you forgetting the van lights on and draining the battery – why did you turn on the lights anyway, it was sunny outside?)

    See, I read your blog!
