As many of you know we have a LOT of ‘booboo’ dolls here at Bamboletta. Training dolls make up the majority and then the rest are ones that may have stains on them (the usual culprit is tea and/or chocolate), or holes in the fabric, or mistakes made by the sewing mamas .. they are handmade and we are human. Anyhow, these dolls don’t end up on for sale but end up in my basement stored in bins waiting for the holidays.
At this years Staff Holiday party I gave a little speech about how these dolls are finally going to find their way home. See, my sewing mamas feel terrible when we can’t use their dolls. The work that went into that doll and the material cost .. I can just see the disappointment in their faces when they bring one in that they accidentally snipped with their scissors or whatever. On Saturday I was so happy to tell them that those dolls will be donated to several charities – there are going to be LOTS of happy kids this holiday season!
Over the past few weeks some of the gals have been volunteering their time (and my mom and some of our kids) cutting and blushing and dressing all these dolls.
So this year we just sent these dolls over to the Ronald McDonald House in Vancouver .. look at those cutie dolls in the front there with the hats on them! These are for the special little ones going through chemo.
And then these two boxes are doing to Janeece House in Victoria and to The Zone radio station who is collecting items for the St.Vincent de Paul society. We’ve got another box heading over to the Canuck Place in Vancouver as well.
The reason why I wanted to write this post is again to thank all of you for all of this. I feel so blessed to be in this position to be able to give these dolls away – really I feel like my heart is going to burst. These little ones are so deserving of bits of happiness and because of all of you and your amazing support of our company we are able to spread Bamboletta love around – it makes me so happy. I’m all weepy now! I’ll be delivering these boxes tomorrow and my eldest son Benjamin is coming with me for this very special day!
Lots of love to you all!
