The gals and I spend lots of time together in the studio – hours and hours a week. Lots of our work is quiet – Thamar and Nicole on the machines sewing away – Rachel, Shauna stuffing or sewing, Brandi doing whatever she does 😉 and me always in my cozy chair sewing faces (seriously – I’m glued to that chair Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – it’s a bit of a joke in the shop). Our work is repetitive so it’s easy to get lost in rhythms and songs. We tend to pass some mornings listening to audio books. Currently we are working through ‘The Help’ and I think we’ve been through the Twilight series about 4 times now (guilty pleasure). But our main l0ve is music.
I’m a music nut. When I was a teenager I thought that the coolest job ever would be to score movie soundtracks (coolest job ever until I became a doll maker!) I am so lucky to work with gals that are equally into music – especially Shauna – it’s with her that I can text ‘I’m on a walk, sun is setting and I’m having a moment with Bon Iver’ and she totally gets it. We have satellite radio and love the station Sirius XMU – the DJ Jenny LSQ hosts the afternoons and we all totally want to be her BFF. I friend requested her on Facebook and sent her a lame message that I loved her show and her sassy ways and she emailed me back that she thought the dolls were cute! OMG – that was an exciting moment in my life .. (*note to parents – you do NOT want to listen to this station with youngin’s around – lots of cussing).

I’ve been asked a lot what the song is in The Case of the Missing Doll (the cutest video EVER) and it’s Bruises by Chairlift. I’ll play DJ here and say that if you like this song then you may want to listen to The Golden Age (The Galaxy Asteroid Club) and My Love (The Bird and the Bee) – similar cuteness!
