I totally heart photographers. I love pouring over photoblogs and seeing what people create and capture using their cameras. I have to admit that I have photo envy – those crispy, clean, bright shots seem so illusive to me. A few months back my Nikon D90 kicked the bucket. I had taken it to be fixed a few times but the same problem kept coming back so, rather than getting it fixed again, I invested in a fancy new Nikon D7000. I was hell bent on getting those crispy, clean, bright shots and this was the camera to do it. Ha! I knew NOTHING about photography – aperture? What? All those numbers and dials were like Greek to me – wth? So I decided to take a course.
I ended up at the Vancouver Photo Workshops Studio because they do these intensive weekend workshops which fit into my schedule. I spent two days in bliss learning the basics on how to handle my camera – it was so awesome to figure out the ‘how’s’ on taking a good picture. I’m a real hands on learner – I get all sleepy when I try to read the manual – so the way the workshop was set up was amazing. If you are in Vancouver and looking for a class I highly recomend VPW – so much fun! And the restuarant ‘Chutney Villa’ is up the street from there … best South Indian food ever!
On the second day they set up photoshoots for us with some models. For our product shots we used my mom’s doll but then we had real, live models. OMG – look at the pictures I took! This is a big deal for me – Miss Auto on the camera!

Next month I go back to take the Intermediate workshop – I just can’t get enough! We have so many cutie kids that come around the studio (sewing mama’s kids) I can’t wait to get some good shots!
