Random Thoughts

I’m afraid this is a random thought email. Baby J hasn’t wanted to sleep much lately making a very tired mama who can’t think about things for very long.

First is this amazing Etsy seller I happened to stumble upon. The Countrytree Toy Shoppe has the most wonderful wooden toys. I love this shop’s stuff. You can tell that it is made with such care. Brian and his wife work together making these wonderful toys using gorgeous woods and finishing them with mineral oil and non toxic paints.

I love this…

And I’m getting Ben this for his birthday…

Second, I have to apologise for not uploading new dolls today. I’m working on an order for Natural Pod this week and that has been taking up all of our time. Check in to NP next week for 6 new dolls! I will get some up next week.

Another apology for my ridiculously long email response time to my customers. I’m going through that time with a baby that they like to bang on everything and do what you are doing. Add that to a baby that doesn’t sleep means no time for mama to get her emailing or blogging done.

Last weekend I mentioned my cousin’s wedding. It was such a great time! The Food! The wine! The endless arms to hold Jasper and entertain Ben! Fantastic. Jasper made my mom so proud with his eating capablities. How a child eats in the Italian culture is seen as such a revered trait. Jasper does not dissapoint, unlike Ben who would only eat white buns with butter with his Shirley Temple’s. Bocconchini, olives, lasagna, veal, beans..goodness you name it- he ate it! My mom was the proudest Nonna at Roma Hall that night!

Hubby and I had a wonderful date day with only one child. Cruised book stores, had a coffee and went for a Steamrollers. Perfect Vancouver kinda day. Glad to be back home though.

etsy update!

I will have 5 new dolls up on Etsy tomorrow. I’m trying to get in the routine of posting all new dolls on Fridays. I’m thinking they’ll be up at around noon, give or take, depending on what my morning with Jasper is like. He seems to be attached to the hip lately, all baby all the time!

I’m in Vancouver this weekend. I’ll write a proper blog post when I get back. No doubt something in there about my cousin’s big Italian wedding I’m going to – should be fun!

You know when you meet someone and you instantly connect, like that person has been your friend forever, it’s rare but a wonderful thing when it does happen. I was fortunate enough to have this connection with one of my customers, Jackie, who’s daughter Liv saved up her own money to buy one of my dolls last summer. I met Jackie last Christmas and had the pleasure of seeing Liv with her dolly ‘Maisy’. Jackie and I have kept in touch through our blogs, Facebook and general comments. You instantly know that Jackie is an amazing soul, so kind and a wonderful human being.

Anyhow, my heart aches for Jackie right now. Her love, her partner, father to her young children died suddenly about a week ago. Jeff suffered a pulmonary embolism and was only 45 years old.

Jackie now faces the daunting task of raising her beautiful children on her own. I cannot imagine how lonely and devastating this time must be for Jackie.

I am sure you will join with me in keeping Jackie, her children and their family in your thoughts at this time.

If you are interested in helping Jackie and her children, please visit this blog for more information; her friend Rach has been kind enough to organise a fund for the Chandler family.

It has made me realise just how quickly our lives can change forever…

This is a very sad situation. My heart goes out to Jackie and her children. And you are right, life changes in a minute. That’s why I try so hard to cherish my moments together with my daughter and husband. Human life is a delicate balance. One minute wasted could mean an eternity wasted, if you know what I mean. I better go hug Kennedy and tell her how much I love her. Have a bright and wonderful day!

Oh no, that is absolutely heartbreaking. 🙁 They will definitely be in my thoughts.

Thanks gals. I know Jackie appreciates all this outpouring of support.

Thanks T for the link correction 🙂 C

We’ve had another bout of sickness. First Ben with a cough/cold combo and and ear infection, then Jasper with a cough/cold combo with pink eye on the side and finally it’s hit me, I am fortunate enough to have only the cough/cold combo with none of the extra’s that my little guys have picked up. It’s tough work being a mama with sick kids..up all night and lots of moaning through the day. I’m not too sure if Ben was that upset with being ill though, it means he gets to watch TV- something he doesn’t get to do very often.

Anyhow, today I had enough, I was so tired and just fed up. I had left the house only once in a week and was starting to go a little stir crazy. John booked me in to go see our acupuncturist, Sara, for a little pick me up. Being the martyr that I am (lol) I told him that he should go instead because his back hurts more then mine. I did end up going and  am so happy that I went. I’m not sure if it was the hour that I had to myself, the needles in my back or the bliss of listening to George full blast in the ‘Mom Bomb’ (aka Toyota minivan), but I came back a new woman!

Speaking of George, I am super happy that he is coming to Vancouver. Me and Julie are planning to go.. George, in real life..Yeahhh! In case you haven’t figured it out, I love him.

On the doll frount, I will be posting some more dolls this Friday on Etsy. I got a bit behind in things with the children’s sickness and all. Here’s a pic of Tulip Fairy. She’ll be up on Friday.

one eyebrow…

I’m really busy. All the time busy. I’m not complaining, I like being busy – I work well with this kind of energy. About two days ago I found myself with some time to myself in the bathroom without one child asking me to make voices for his cars or the other one wanting to be picked up. With glee I started to pluck my eyebrows, I used to be obsessive about my eyebrows. I often have very short bangs and sometimes wear thick framed glasses so eyebrows are something that I try to keep under control. It had been months since I had a tweezer near them and they were in pretty rough shape. In the midst of plucking Jasper awoke so I went to get him and totally forgot about the eyebrows. I only did one..lol..and just the arch part, so there were still hairs on the other side. Do you know how ridiculous that looks? So, I’ve been going around town, grocery shopping, to the bank, wherever with just one half eyebrow done – for 2 days. You may think I’m making a deal out of nothing, but it was really, really noticable – I’m Italian.  What a goof .

On to other things, I just found out that Bamboletta will be in the May issue of Canadian Family magazine! I’ll be in the ‘Must Have’ section. I’m not sure what they will be writting..they emailed me asking my kid’s ages and my last name.

I love this picture. This is what I normally have to do when I talk on the phone. It’ s insane – I know.

Looks very familiar! My boys are 4 and 2 and they always seem to pick their crabby, clingy times when I’m on the phone! BTW, I love your dolls – do you have masculine ones? 😉

admin - April 8, 2008 - 7:56 pm

Ha, ha..today I let my son take all the tissues out of the box just so he’d stay quiet while I was on the phone with a customer!

I do make boy dolls, I love boy dolls. I’m going to try to post some onto my Etsy site soon. I made one last week but he sold pretty quickly.

And this is the picture I was looking for! I love busy Mom photos.

Your eyebrow story cracked me up and I’m looking forward to reading more entries.
