Spaces

I love when people post pictures of their work spaces so here is mine. It’s changed a bit since then, it’s always changing. Julie has quite the magical decorating ‘touch’ and rearranges things all the time. I’ll pop out to pick up Ben from Kindercottage and come back to my furniture all rearranged and Julie with a sly grin on her face..it’s great. Honestly since moving here I haven’t really felt any decorating mojo. Our old home in Vancouver was a character home which we (who am I kidding..I) reno’d from the studs out..it was a lot of fun, but then I didn’t have any children and could spend hours in various shops contemplating faucets. Sigh… the luxury. When we bought over here it was a bit of a shotgun purchase. We needed a place to move into and at 6 months pregnant the thought of renting and going through buying with a newborn made me feel ill. I like our house but I don’t love it , it’s too far away from my esthetic. Floral wallpaper (with a border!), now gone shag carpeting, the curtains (tres 70’s and not in a good way) the list goes on. Anyhow.. I have a home, I feel like a twit talking about this. To make a long story short I want to thank Julie for helping me create a space that feels like it’s mine which is a pretty hard task seeing as the space is in the basement where the furnace is!

On the Doll front.. Bamboletta is in the May issue of Canadian Family magazine! I have looked EVERYWHERE in Duncan for the magazine but apparently it’s in between issues. I’ll be heading into Victoria today to see if it’s there. So exciting! I’m a Must Have!

oh how i envy your work space. it certainly doesn’t look like the basement. i feel like i work in a phone booth, my space is so small.

The most beautiful quilt..ever!!

Thanks Ella, I find though, the more space you have the more you tend to ‘spread out’. I’ve put it out there that the next place we get has a little cottage or something that I can work out of.. so there is a bit of seperation. I find that I’m down here all the time, not that that is a bad thing, but sometimes I do want to seperate it..know what I mean?

Doll Threads…

img_2173.jpg

I have a confession to make. I really dislike making doll clothing, little seams, fiddly hems, I just don’t have it in me. I also don’ t have a serger which makes things even more difficult. Don’t get me wrong.. I can do it if I have to, but I much prefer creating the dolls. For the past few months I’ve been working with Reggie from Reggie’s Dolls and she has been making my clothing. My friend Constance and I have been drafting up the patterns and Reggie has been sewing up a storm for me. This woman’s work is GORGEOUS! Serged everything, gorgeous details and each stitch in it’s perfect place.  You can really tell when something is done with a lot of thought, care and love and Reggie has it all in her sewing. I am so lucky to have her with me. Reggie loves making the clothing but dislikes making dolls..we are a perfect fit! Soon she will be listing clothing on her own Etsy shop for customers to buy. She will have her own stuff and also clothing made from my patterns (both of which fit the Bamboletta’s)

My friend Constance will also have some doll clothing for sale on her Etsy shop. She also sells some kids stuff that is very cute and very Constance. Jane from Little Seedlings I see now has some doll clothing on her shop as well, she also sells these amazing juggling blocks and silk streamers.

Big Doll ‘Drop’

I worked and worked hard this week and last to make 9..yes 9! new dolls for Natural Pod. All going well I should have them photographed tomorrow and then Bridgitte will load them on to the site. They should be up by Wednesday… maybe, hopefully =).

We had a lovely putter-y day today mowing the lawn and playing outside with the little ones. Baby J is just over 8 months now, goodness what a nice age this is. He is just so sweet and cute, still doesn’t sleep, but wonderful none the less! This picture just about sums up his personality..
