another retail locale

Doll has nothing to do with this post. I just like posts with pictures better. ‘Rose’ is on her way home tomorrow..sniff, sniff! I really need to have a girl.

I’m happy to announce that I will have a few of my gals over at Sprouts in Victoria, BC. I’m a bit picky about where the girls (and boys) go, like I’ve mentioned before – I’m way too attached to them. Sprouts is an awesome fit, super cool shop and really kind, great owners. Thanks to them for giving the dolls a good home!

Well, that’s it – I’ve hit my Christmas maximum for orders. I made sure that I left enough room to create lots of dolls for Etsy and lots of clothing for the dolls too. Constance has been working hard on some new clothes over at her Etsy shop and I’ll have some of my own stuff made up too. Just to let you know that if you have ordered a doll you can get clothing from either of our shops with no additional shipping fees (we’ll put it in with your custom doll), just check out from Etsy and we’ll send you a revised  invoice.

On the home front the change that I alluded too a few weeks past has manifested. I’m sure most of you (well, Christine anyways) guessed that John has quit his job. Gulp. Smile. This is a big leap of faith that we are taking towards our dreams. I’ve been reading Christine’s blog for quite sometime about living frugally, every penny has to be watched now. But, we have made a choice to actually live our lives and not just ‘kill time’. It will work out, my views on what happiness is and what it means to live a good life have changed quite a bit this past year. My family, the garden, the dolls and smiles fill me up. Lol, now if I could just get my mind off that new Betsey Johnson bag! Ha! I love her, she is so over the top.

To my Canadian sistas- get out there and vote tomorrow, this is a big one!

Thanks so much to Carmen, for this love!

I knew it!! 🙂 That is so exciting!!! Congrats you guys, on this new chapter in life!! And how right you are, about enjoying life and choosing from the heart. I’m sure you’ll make it work.
Thanks for the link to my blog, actually husband and I talked about our budget and choosing time over money again just this weekend. I’ll make time this week to do another post about budgets and frugality.

PS: when you first started, how did you know what you made was good enough for people to really love it and buy it too?

I am so happy for you guys. We have also embraced frugality (is that a word?) and so we can lust after extravagant things together. If only I could felt you a Betsey bag… hmmm.

Congratulations to you both! I’m so jealous, but then I actually spend some time imagining my husband home everyday and I realize working is good for him. (I’d kill him the first week).

Hello there, got here from SouleMama site. Love your dolls and totally inspired me to make one for my daughter. No pattern, no help, no clue, but lots of faith in what I was doing. I think it came allright, but having gone through it now I can totally appreciate all the hard work and effort you put in your dolls. To me, every stitch was doubled and so much worth it, because it was for my daughter and hopefully one day my grandkids will play with it…I know where you come from when you’re being “picky” about where your dolls go. Congratulations on having a business that makes a difference to you and so many, and for choosing a new road and many more adventures.

This is phenomenal. Although this probably wouldn’t work for us, I share your dream of living in a nice rural area with a barn and an alpaca, the kids, flowing white dresses and bare feet…Taking life into your own hands is a scary thing, I remember agonizing over leaving my Engineering career to start my own business, and although my salary is only a fraction of what it used to be (and for a long time I went without), I have more flexibility and time with my kids, and I’m SO much happier!

Congratulations to you and John. I wish you all the best and hope that Bambolettas will join Nurtured on the East Coast come spring!

I read your blog often but don’t usually comment… I’m so happy for you! You are such an inspiration and I’m sure you’ll have lots of success! Your dolls are the best out there. By far. Congrats on being at Sprout. You’re a wise businesswoman whether or not you see yourself that way. I would love to own one of your dolls someday. Carmen’s post was so sweet!!
